As Through your life the troubles come
Just always do your best
Cause later on the grandkids come
And offer you some rest
All troubles will be paid in full
Including interest due
When a grandchild first can say
Papa "I love you"
Faith Faith Lucas
As through your life the troubles come
And always seem to stay
Give your children all your love
It will return someday
All troubles will be paid in full
Including interest due
When a grandchild first can say
Papa "I love you"
Crystal
As through your life the troubles come
And never seem to end
Relief from troubles yet untold
Is just around the bend
All troubles will be paid in full
Including interest due
When a grandchild first can say
Papa "I love you"

Crystal
As through your life the troubles come
Just make a mental note
That later on the grandkids come
And make them all remote
All troubles will be paid in full
Including interest due
When a grandchild first can say
Papa "I love you"
Melodie
As through your life the troubles come
And give you pain and such
When later on the grandkids come
They won't amount to much
All troubles will be paid in full
Including interest due
When a grandchild first can say
Papa "I love you"
Caitlin Brad's Clan Sean
All interest is compounded
And paid out every day
When a grandchild comes to visit
And wishes they could stay
All troubles will be paid in full
Including interest due
When a grandchild first can say
Papa "I love you"

Cody & Caitlin
So give to all your grandkids
The full love in your heart
They need the reassurance
To get a healthy start
All troubles have been paid in full
Including interest due
Because my grandchild came and said
Papa "I LOVE YOU"

Ode To Mema

Faith
We planted our garden
So long ago
To see how it would grow

Steph
And it grew well
Cause you were there
With tender loving care
Sarah Sean
And through that care
The rows grew long
And all the plants grew strong

Lucas
And when the garden
Went to seed
You still pulled every weed
Sarah Lucas
And now that seed
Begins to grow
Surrounded by your loving glow

"What
Is A Grandparent?"
(taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)
Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no
little children of her own. They like other people's.
A grandfather is a man grandmother.
Melodie
Grandparents don't have to do anything except
be there when we come to see them. They are
so old they shouldn't play hard or run. It is good
if they drive us to the store and have lots of quarters
for us.
When they take us for walks, they slow down past
things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.
They show us and talk to us about the color of the
flowers and also Why we shouldn't step on "cracks."
They don't say, "Hurry up."

Usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie
your shoes.
They wear glasses and funny underwear.
They can take their teeth and gums out.
Grandparents don't have to be smart.
They have to answer questions like "Why isn't God
married?" and "How come dogs chase cats?"

Sarah
When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't
mind if we ask for the same story over again.
Everybody should try to have a grandmother,
especially if you don't have television, because
they are the only grown ups who like to spend
time with us.
They know we should have snack-time before
bedtime and they say prayers with us every time,
and kiss us even when we've acted bad.
